White Sox Partnership

In 2013 OPYBS was extremely pleased to enter a new partnership with the Chicago White Sox organization. The White Sox organization generously donated jerseys and hats/visors for all boys and girls teams at all age levels in 2013. This incredible donation served to both put our players in great looking uniforms, but also provided significant cost savings to the OPYBS organization that we were able to reinvest over the year.

Thanks to this partnership, OPYBS was able to make several long-term investments that will continue to pay dividends for many years. These include significant investments to upgrade our old team equipment, including bats, helmets and catcher’s gear. In addition, we worked with the Park District and D97 and were able to pay for new dugout fences at Hatch School field, one of our main T-Ball parks. We also provided a large investment as part of the Ridgeland Commons renovation. When Ridgeland reopens in the Spring, it will included new batting cages (the first ever in Oak Park!) funded by OPYBS.

Finally, we made significant investments into training for both coaches and players. This included working with the White Sox Training Academy to put together coach clinics, and providing subsidies for our players to participate in hitting, pitching and defensive camps run by the Sox Academy. The White Sox organization also provided instructional videos throughout the year, featuring Sox coaches and players sharing tips with our teams.

The OPYBS Board firmly believes that the White Sox partnership was an incredible opportunity and a great investment in Oak Park. We appreciate their ongoing support and are pleased that OPYBS has been chosen as a partner organization again for the 2014 season.
